Delivery and shopping across Greece
Food delivery apps, supermarket delivery, price comparison sites, the big retailers and parcel lockers, and how far each reaches beyond Athens and Thessaloniki, to the islands included.
Our rules on deals. We never publish promo or referral codes: they are personal or time limited, and Wolt’s terms forbid posting referral codes publicly. We link to each brand’s official offers page instead. Greek law says a price reduction must show the previous price, meaning the lowest price in the 30 days before it. Summer and winter sales in Greece
Sales in Greece follow fixed dates set by Law 4177/2013. Winter sales begin on the second Monday of January and end with February, and summer sales begin on the second Monday of July and end with August. The next seasons therefore run from Monday 11 January to the end of February 2027 and from Monday 12 July to Tuesday 31 August 2027. Mid season sales were abolished in 2022, so no official sales period is left in 2026, though Black Friday falls on 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November.
Shops may open on eight Sundays a year, including the first Sunday of each sales season and the second Sunday of the winter sales. In 2027 these sales Sundays are 17 and 24 January and 18 July.
In Thessaloniki, Tsimiski Street is the biggest shopping street, and Mediterranean Cosmos in Pylaia has more than 200 stores. In Heraklion, browse the old market on 1866 Street and the shops of pedestrian Daidalou Street. In Patras, the pedestrian streets of Riga Feraiou and Maizonos are the prime shopping streets.
Before you buy, check the price history on Skroutz or BestPrice, and remember that the previous price on a sale label must be the lowest of the last 30 days. Faulty goods carry a legal guarantee of at least two years, and complaints go to the consumer line on 1520.

Your rights during the sales
- During the sales every price cut must show the previous price beside the new one. The cut may also be shown as a percentage or a euro amount, and the previous price may be struck through. ESEE circular: regular summer sales 2026 (25 Jun 2026) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026) Newsbomb: summer sales 2026, start date and Sunday opening (10 Jun 2026) (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026)
- The previous price is the lowest price the shop charged in the 30 days before the cut. If the product has been on sale for less than 30 days, it is the lowest price since it went on sale. This is the EU Omnibus rule (Directive 2019/2161), now in Article 9i of Greek Law 2251/1994. ESEE circular: regular summer sales 2026 (25 Jun 2026) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026) Volos Traders Association: abolition of mid season sales, with the text of Law 4965/2022 Article 6 (6 Sep 2022) (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026)
- If a shop cuts a price in steps within 60 days, it may keep showing the price from before the first cut, but any price rise in between ends this. ESEE circular: regular summer sales 2026 (25 Jun 2026) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026)
- The recommended retail price may not be used as the previous price. ESEE circular: regular summer sales 2026 (25 Jun 2026) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026)
- Shops may not charge extra for paying by card. ESEE circular: regular summer sales 2026 (25 Jun 2026) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026) Council of the EU: consumer protection and shopping rights (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026)
- Buying in the sales does not reduce your rights if an item is faulty: you can ask for repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund, depending on the case. The EU legal guarantee lasts at least two years, and for a fault that appears within a year of delivery the seller must prove it was not there at delivery. - Exchanging or refunding an item that is not faulty is the shop's own policy, not a legal duty. The shop should tell you its policy before you pay, so ask first and keep the receipt. Workenter: summer sales, what applies to exchanges and returns (22 Jul 2026) (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026) CNN Greece: summer sales to 31 August, what applies to faulty products (17 Aug 2026) (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026) European Consumer Centre France: right of withdrawal (search engine copy, read 4 Oct 2026)

Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026
- Black Friday 2026, Friday 27 November 2026: Not a legal sales period: shops run their own offers, and many start them earlier in November. Shops may open on Sunday 29 November 2026. - Official warnings about fake discounts: Before Black Friday 2025 the Consumer Ombudsman warned about discounts worked out from prices raised just beforehand, unclear product descriptions, hidden charges and delivery costs, late deliveries and untrustworthy websites. It advised shoppers to check the previous price and the price history, read the return terms, pay securely and not be rushed by short flash offers. ESEE reminded shops that the previous price for a Black Friday cut is the lowest price of the previous 30 days. How to check a real discount
- Skroutz price history: A price history button on each product page shows how the price has moved, with a graph of the lowest and average price and the number of shops selling the item. The 2012 post that introduced it describes a four month graph. Skroutz blog: price history, know when to buy (20 Jul 2012) (page opened, read 4 Oct 2026)

- BestPrice deal checks: BestPrice compares each price with the lowest stable price of the last three months and with every shop selling the same product. It ignores very short drops and price errors, leaves out products without enough history, and shows a deal badge for 30 days at most. Its strictest badge, Black deals, marks a new lowest price. The struck through price is BestPrice's own reference price, not the shop's claim, shops cannot buy a badge, and one click opens the price history graph. What we could not verify yet about the sales (19 points)
- The 2027 sales dates are calculated from the legal rule. No ESEE or Ministry of Development announcement for 2027 was found on 4 Oct 2026.
- End of winter sales 2027: the law says the end of February. 28 February 2027 is a Sunday that is not a permitted Sunday, so the last normal shopping day is likely Saturday 27 February, as coolweb.gr says (search engine copy). Not confirmed officially.
- Sunday 26 December 2027 is both the last Sunday of the year and a public holiday. Under the holiday clause this opening may move to another Sunday; not checked.
- December 2026 festive shop hours are not published yet. Only the Athens Traders Association's 2025 schedule was found, as a reference.
- The 3 Oct 2026 research note cites Law 4933/2022 for the 30 day rule. Today's sources name Law 4965/2022, Article 6, and for the current wording Article 9i of Law 2251/1994 as amended by Law 5111/2024. Law 4933/2022 was not confirmed and should not be cited.
- The current consolidated text of Articles 15 and 16 of Law 4177/2013 was not read on an official site; the codified version on e-nomothesia needs a subscription. The rules come from the ESEE circular, the Volos Traders Association copy of Law 4965/2022 and the Odigos tou Politi copy of Law 5157/2024, Article 39.
- Law 5111/2024 itself was not read; the 30 day and 60 day rules come from the ESEE circular of 25 Jun 2026.
- The 1520 line hours (daily 08:00 to 22:00) come from a Cyclades Chamber page in search engine copy, not from the Ministry.
- No Ministry of Development or Consumer Ombudsman guidance for Black Friday 2026 was found yet; the warnings used date from November 2025.
- Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 dates come from Greek news sites in search engine copy; they match the calendar (US Thanksgiving is 26 Nov 2026).
- Skroutz price history details come from a 2012 blog post, so the graph span and layout may have changed. The Skroutz price alert is from search engine copy.
- Kifissia is left out of where_to_shop: no source with a usable URL was captured on 4 Oct 2026.
- Corfu: no shopping mall or designer outlet could be confirmed. Tripadvisor's Corfu shopping list includes small entries filed as shopping malls (search engine copy); they were not checked.
- Whether Corfu shops may open on other Sundays in the tourist season under local rules was not checked.
- Larissa was not researched.
- Designer Outlet Athens: its own site does not use the McArthurGlen name, while malls.com still does. Use the official name.
- Most place descriptions (Ermou, Kolonaki, The Mall Athens, Golden Hall, Designer Outlet Athens, Corfu, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Patras) come from search engine copy of official or travel pages; only the Glyfada guide was opened in full.
- Offers pages for Plaisio, Germanos, e-shop.gr, IKEA, Skroutz and BestPrice were last read on 3 Oct 2026; Public and Kotsovolos were opened again on 4 Oct 2026; attica, notos and Hondos Center are from search engine copy.
- athenstourism.org was not used: it is a commercial site and still describes mid season sales, which were abolished in 2022.
What we could not verify yet
- Wolt: no full official list of Greek cities. The city index on wolt.com is built by script and did not load, and the Patras page did not open. Only Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion were checked on Wolt itself. All other Wolt places come from a press release reprinted by e-radio.gr (27 Jul 2026), which is not one of the named news outlets.
- Wolt, efood and Box: no separate official offers or discover page was found. e-food.gr/offers and box.gr/offers did not load. The offers_pages entries for Wolt and efood are pages that show offers in a strip, not dedicated offers pages.
- efood pro: the price (3.99 euro a month, 34.99 euro a year) comes from an FAQ post first published on 16 Jul 2024 and may have changed. The FAQ gives two different minimums for food orders (7.50 euro and 9 euro), so neither is used here.
- efood market: mentioned only in the efood pro FAQ. No separate page was checked.
- Box: box.gr does not give a points conversion rate. The 17,000 store figure, the supermarket list and the Telekom data rewards come from an app store copy, not from box.gr.
- AB Vassilopoulos: home delivery areas, and whether AB delivers to islands, not found on ab.gr.
- My market, Masoutis and Kritikos: e shop delivery areas and island delivery not stated on the pages read. Kritikos asks for an address instead.
- BOX NOW: no total number of locker sites was found (only the 240,000 compartment figure). Lockers on Rhodes and in the Cyclades were not seen in the part of the locker list that was read. Absence is not confirmed.
- Skroutz Last Mile, and locker or pickup point networks of ACS, ELTA Courier, Geniki Taxydromiki and Speedex: not checked.
- ELTA Courier and ACS remote area surcharge amounts: not found.
- Public: store count and a working store locator URL not verified (public.gr/stores returned only generic text).
- Kotsovolos: store count not on an official page read. Greek Wikipedia says over 90 stores in Greece and Cyprus; this was not checked against an official source.
- Plaisio: store count not verified. Its service points page gives both 24 and 28 service points.
- Official offers pages for Box, Public, Kotsovolos, Plaisio and Germanos: not verified.
- No articles from kathimerini.gr, ot.gr, naftemporiki.gr or newmoney.gr were checked in the time available.
